Evanescence

Evanescence: The quality of vanishing quickly, fading away, soon passing out of sight, memory or existence.
As I traveled through the waters of British Columbia and SE Alaska on our lobster boat in 2011, patterns of our wake and reflections in quiet anchorages suggested to me a new series of paintings. In these I use the gestural nature of oil bars to express lines of energy I see on the water, as well as the ephemeral quality of light, movement, and color.
